Before the Eid, families purchase live cows and sheep and goats which they keep in their homes or businesses until the day of the slaughter. These guys are just hours away from meeting their maker.

The butchers cleaning up a cow.

Cleaning out the hooves.

The sheep in the center is being held. He's about to get his throat cut.

Once the bodies have been skinned, they hang them on hooks outside the butcher shop.

Some dumb sheep seem unaware of the fate that is about to befall them.

Norman?

Finally, after the animals have been slaughtered, another tradition of this holiday is to smear your hands in blood and then make handprints on taxis and buses. The bloody handprints are supposed to protect the vehicles from the evil eye.
